Description

The purpose of your role as an Assistant Controller

As an Assistant Controller, you will responsible for creating and maintaining accurate, complete and timely financial statements, in compliance with GAAP and serve as the lead technical expert. Lead and develop direct reports.
  • Lead the monthly close process and timeline working collaboratively across the accounting department to ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial statements. Prepare or approve various entries and reconciliations, including timely research and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Monitor data integrity for accurate and timely financial reporting. Identify and develop process improvements to streamline processes and improve team efficiency across the organization.
  • Prepare insurance and other key financial data for job audit support, inclusion in bid proposals and other similar packages as required.
  • Perform complex research and reconciliation of differences and errors ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded, resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Prepare accurate and financial reporting package. Update and communicate key business issues and provide insightful variance analysis including commentary.
  • Maintain and coordinate the implementation of proper accounting processes and internal controls. Ensure written documentation of daily / weekly duties and applicable month end close processes and procedures.
  • Assist with the annual financial audit, preparing accurate audit support schedules, reports and deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget process.
  • Serve as lead regarding technical accounting compliance, research memos, and internal controls.

What we're looking for in you
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related, or equivalent years of experience
  • 7+ years of experience with percentage of completion accounting, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cost allocations, and budgeting functions.
  • 7+ years of experience with established record of process improvement methodologies which result in organizational efficiencies.
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel (VLOOKUP's and pivot tables)
  • 7+ years of experience with system conversion / integrations.
  • Experience and understanding of construction accounting is preferred.
  • CPA or CMA and public accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with accounting and financial reporting systems (CMiC, Key2Act, COINS, UltiPro, Adaptive Insights is preferred).
