POSITION PURPOSE


Our growing organization is looking for a Communications Manager to create and implement communications strategies that further our mission and goals internally and externally. We need someone with cross functional marketing experience, who can promote our mission/vision across social channels, draft newsletters, announcements and leadership briefing materials (as needed for PR opportunities) that propel Umpqua Health brand pillars and key messaging. Develop ongoing interactions and event opportunities with our employees, patients and community. This position requires partnership with HR, high energy to manage cross-office employee communications, plan companywide events, and engage the organization through cultural programs.



ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Manage internal communications with staff, including creating narrative themes, developing executive messaging, and overseeing event logistics
  • Promote our mission, values and agreements
  • Lead development and strategy around new and existing communication channels, including Facebook and monthly newsletter
  • Act as historian track all organizational emails and policy changes
  • Create a comprehensive annual communication plan
  • Support speech writing and copy writing for special engagements
  • Create PR and press kit talking points for all audiences
  • Listen to and engage employees to create recognition programs collaborating with HR
  • Develop and execute proactive and strategic communication initiatives in partnerships with teams across Umpqua Health
  • Innovate and encourage communications that enhance transparency and authentic behavior
  • Understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias (a commitment to advancing equity, diversion and inclusion)
  • Apply an equity lens to ensure organizational strengths
  • Plan cultural programs and events
  • Collaborate with IT to create systems to support communications for multiple end users and audiences
  • Create positive personal employee/patient stories, annual report, video learning
  • Build leadership through community involvement
  • Manage vendor relationships

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience with (list computer programs here)
  • Minimum of five years-experience in communications
  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field
  • Experience managing multiple projects
  • Experience creating a comprehensive annual communication plan[KC1]
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgement
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to work under pressure, remain flexible and manage multiple projects while keeping a big picture strategic view
  • Demonstrated ability to use social media channels effectively to deliver positive impact on the organization
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion, diplomacy and confidentiality





PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Typical office environment requiring standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds. May be exposed to patient and medical office environment conditions.
