Overview

The role of the Distribution Planner, Business Process Owner is to be the SAP Sales and Distribution software and process expert and works globally with business users to develop best practices and establish standard procedures for the Distribution and Transportation Organization. This role is responsible for deploying new processes, identifying process improvements, and has decision making power in creation of standard processes and any change requests or exceptions to established best practices. This position has a global centralized focus and requires a broad view of the distribution networks and activities relating to distribution within MSA.



Responsibilities

Distribution Network Optimization

  • Seek out opportunities to improve logistics processes: outbound, inbound and inter-company transportation management within the regions Distribution Centers.
  • Ensure all functions are fully optimized to meet our customers business requirements within the region, while driving improved customer satisfaction, delivery improvement and reduce combined front end logistics and transportation costs.
  • Seek out and implement cost down opportunities for MSA and strategic partners relating to the handling of materials and outbound transportation.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize material handling within third party logistics locations.

SAP Sales and Distribution Module Mastery

  • Be the in-house expert on the SAP Sales and Distribution Module including technical and functional knowledge of master data fields and integration points between SAP and 3PL locations
  • Provide expertise on leveraging SAP Sales and Distribution functionality to optimize efficiencies within the transportation and distribution space
  • Identify opportunity for modification to business practices to take full advantage of technology innovation
  • Drive implementation of best practices and industry benchmarking to allow SAP to best support the business processes.
  • Work with IT on the global priority list, providing business cases for priority items and supported need to the business

Distribution Network Standardization

  • Work with stakeholders to agree on business process standardization.
  • Assist in development of key output and KPI requirements that support Distribution and Transportation strategy.
  • Work with functional groups to collaborate with sales & marketing, transportation, finance, IT, etc. at a business unit/country/regional/global level to identify gaps and action plans for improvements.
  • Continuously seek feedback from stakeholders on the process, effectiveness, metrics and subsequent activities to identify issues to resolve. Periodically conduct health check on the process and outcome.
  • Train power users as resource support, and on-board new associates to the processes/tools.
  • Work with stakeholders to agree on business process standards
  • Deliver business process models by documenting and mapping business processes targeted for change via approved projects, both current and future state.
  • Contribute specific baseline and target business metrics and measures that lead to business KPIs to support the overall business case for a project being developed by the process owner.
  • Work with business subject matter experts to analyze proposed process change that includes a risk and benefits analysis, along with an interdependency analysis with other business processes, as well as information, technology and solution portfolios.
  • Go-live & post-go live support Support project implementations, hyper-care and long-term post go live initiatives.


Qualifications

  • Ability to travel domestically approximately 10%.

Education and experience required:

  • Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, IT or related discipline
  • 5+ years of planning, transportation, logistics and/or procurement experience
  • Includes 2+ years of specific experience working within an ERP Sales and Distribution module

Experience Preferred:

  • Functional and technical knowledge of SAP Sales and Distribution
  • Functional knowledge of system integration with a 3PL
  • Experience in creating User Acceptance documents and end to end test scenarios
  • Experience in creating training materials and standard operating procedures for business users
  • Experience working with external suppliers, specifically 3PL providers

CLTD, CPIM or CSCP accreditation preferred.
