Students gain acceptance to our schools via an annual blind public lottery open to all Boston residents. Our families bring amazing racial and cultural diversity to the school community - they represent over 20 different countries of origin with over 20 different languages spoken at home. 94% of our students are people of color. Our students bring a diversity of needs to our school, and we are prepared to serve them. 21% of our students qualify for special education services; 30% of our student body are English Language Learners.

Match's core values are Equity, Freedom, Teamwork, Innovation, and Accountability. We are working to reframe our organizational processes and policies to be truly anti-racist. At Match, we believe that three aspects of our work and organization - a staff that is diverse by race and other factors, a professional environment that is inclusive of all perspectives, and a curriculum in our PreK-12 school that is culturally competent - are vital to our goals and mission. Match seeks an educator with a track record of success to lead the elementary school as the Principal starting in the 2021-22 school year. The Principal will manage the growth and development of our PreK-5th grade students. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who has achieved success as a school leader in an urban school, or an experienced educator with leadership potential ready to take the next step. This position is based at Match Community Day, located at 100 Poydras St. in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston.

The main priority for the Elementary School Principal is to deliver excellent short-term and long-term student outcomes on measures like MCAS, STEP Reading Assessments, and student and staff attrition. In meeting that priority, the Principal will be responsible for:

The growth, performance, and retention of teachers and other school staff. This work will be the primary focus of the Principal. The Principal, in his or her work as an academic leader, is responsible for the management, development, and performance of the school faculty. This work is all encompassing and includes hiring decisions, evaluation, development and retention of faculty members through weekly PD sessions, summer training, weekly meetings, observations, and more. The Principal manages the school leadership team, who supervise and coach teachers, staff, and associate teachers.

Strategic Planning and Change Management. The Principal will work collaboratively with the elementary school leadership team and Match Central Office leadership on the long-range planning process for the elementary school, including staff development, retention, and growth pathways, course offerings, course sequences, and refinement of tutorial and curriculum.

Leadership and vision on curriculum, assessments, and pedagogy. The Principal will be responsible for collaborating closely with elementary school instructional leaders, curriculum directors, and the CAO to ensure that the Match School curriculum and assessments are effectively implemented to ensure that Match's instructional vision and approach are reflected in every Match classroom.

Student culture and discipline. The Principal will have overall responsibility for all levels of school culture and discipline in the school. This includes both making sure the day-to-day culture and enforcement of policies is strong, and dealing with more specific, more severe, student issues. This does not mean that the Principal will be responsible for processing all discipline infractions. It does mean that s/he is responsible for creating a team and leading that team to address all discipline issues both large and small.

Family and Community. As the head of the school, the Principal ensures there is relentless relationship building and communication with students and families.

The Principal will report directly to the Deputy Executive Director of Match Charter Public School. Reporting to the Principal will be the Match Community Day leadership team
