Accountable for total PE/Athletic Equipment Control: Directs and manages a full range of duties in all facets of PE/Athletic equipment and uniforms, including operations, inventory, maintenance, purchasing, storage, laundering, distribution and collection; to supervise student equipment room and game staff; to setup, maintain and dismantle all equipment as needed for operation of the facility; as assigned, serve as the athletic event game manager and assist in liability risk management.



  • Responsible for total PE/Athletic equipment control: repair, maintain, move, secure, operate receive, label/stamping (for tracking), inventory, store, issue, disperse, retrieve, properly fit, clean, inspect equipment in order to insure safety, security and reduce the risk of liability.
  • Direct, develop and manage all daily laundry and equipment operations.
  • Manages and performs daily repairs and maintenance on individual equipment as needed and develop and implement a yearly strategy/calendar for equipment repairs, maintenance and equipment replacement.
  • Accountable for all PE/Athletic Equipment Inventory using an electronic Barcode System, including being responsible for entire equipment inventory and maintaining records of all equipment checked out/in for each athlete and staff member and monitors charges and credits on athletes for all returned and non-returned equipment.
  • Analyze, plan, and research products and vendors, solicits quotations and prepares all requisitions in college purchasing software. This includes coordinating with administration, coaches and faculty in purchasing of correct and required/needed equipment and clothing to ensure budgetary limitations are met as well as serviceability and performance.
  • Oversees the daily preparation of all set-up and take-down of necessary equipment for P.E. classes, athletic practice sessions and home athletic contests for both inside and outside equipment/facilities.
  • Assists in the budget analysis and development for individual athletic teams, overall athletic department needs and PE classes.
  • Responsible for hiring, supervising, scheduling equipment student staff and other support staff.
  • Develop and administer policies and procedures for appropriate equipment usage, distribution and retrieval, operation of equipment room, laundry room, storage areas and arena used or occupied by student workers, faculty, teams and coaches.
  • Responsible for athletic locker maintenance, cleaning and assigning lockers of each team member.
  • Oversees the safe storage of chemicals and arrange for proper disposal of chemical drums and/or other chemicals with the COD Hazardous Materials Coordinator and annually monitor Hazardous Communication trainings for student workers.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of changing athletic rules, athletic equipment policies, procedures, new technologies and materials, standards and guidelines, as outlined by the appropriate governing bodies. Also update all staff accordingly.
  • Serve as home game manager, as assigned.
  • Assist in any needed PE/Athletic facilities operations and capital projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED:

EXPERIENCE:

Two or more years record keeping or inventory experience, plus management experience. Ability to repair and maintain various athletic and P.E. equipment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and have coaching experience.

EDUCATION:

Associates Degree. Thorough knowledge of all varieties of athletic and P.E. equipment and materials, proficiency in various athletic rules, score keeping and officiating techniques.

PREFERRED:

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years supervisory, equipment room and/or coaching experience.

EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree



Electrical equipment and various tools used for operating and repairing Athletic equipment.

Must have the ability to work in crowded spaces, and perform frequent heavy lifting and or pushing heavy equipment and handle various hazardous materials (i.e. blood, laundry and cleaning supplies).

Hours often include early morning and late night assignments during the normal workweek and on weekends. Indoor/outdoor work required.
