POSITION PURPOSE

To assist physicians and other staff members in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Escorts patients to room and assists in determining medical problem.
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment by taking medical history and vital signs.
  • Prepares exam rooms and instruments for examination and/or testing and stocks supplies as appropriate.
  • Assists with the referral and discharge process.
  • Instructs patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions given by a physician.
  • Gives injections and/or applies splints or dressings as instructed by physician.
  • Assist with Prior Authorizations for Medications.
  • Will scribe for Providers as needed.
  • Comply with organizations internal policies and procedures, Code of Conduct, Compliance Plan, along with applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care, 2-3 years relevant experience.
  • Current healthcare level CPR certification.
  • Certification from the National Healthcare Association and/or graduation from an MOA program preferred.
  • Skill in taking vital signs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with physicians, patients and co-workers, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Typical office environment requiring standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds. May be exposed to patient and environment conditions such as unpleasant sights, smells and contagious diseases.
