Job Summary
Hiring Range: $48,859.20 - $64,396.80/Year D.O.Q.

Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking an energetic individual to assist with planning sustainable development and long-term strategic mission of the PCCA relative to environmental sustainability and resilience. The qualified individual will join a team of professionals dedicated to leading and managing PCCA's environmental initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assists in the development of environmental initiatives aimed at overall PCCA sustainability and resilience including programs for energy transition, climate action, water resource management, green infrastructure, resource efficiency and associated goals designed to drive business results, reduce environmental impacts over the full lifecycle, and ensure continuous improvement of Port operations
  • Assists in building sustainability metrics into short and long-range business, capital, and operations planning
  • Assists in the collection and interpretation of technical/analytical data, researching technologies, and evaluation of strategies, technologies, partnerships, and business models to help achieve the targets for reducing the Port's environmental footprint
  • Supports ongoing annual benchmark reporting including Port's Environmental Management System Report, Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Report, questionnaires, and engage with key ESG ratings and rankings organizations
  • Collaborates with technical staff in multiple departments to develop, refine, and implement an integrated and coordinated sustainability plan on an ongoing basis
  • Collaborates with diverse group of external stakeholders including rating agencies, sustainability standards bodies, and industry and academic groups on Port's sustainability program
  • Assists in the coordination with PCCA staff and consultants during design of capital construction projects to ensure incorporation of strategic environmental developments in accordance with long term environmental/sustainability goals and initiatives
  • Reviews and comment on plans, specifications, and bid documents on PCCA projects and tenant properties with regards to environmental requirements and long-term sustainability goals and initiatives
  • Assists with development and implementation of sustainability design policy for planning and design of PCCA facilities and planned improvements by PCCA tenants
  • Provides relevant training on implementation of environmental initiatives
  • Prepares technical requirements and scopes of work for consultants; prepares, implements, and manages professional service agreements and task orders with consultants
  • Serves as a project manager on minor and major projects and reports to other staff, and to commissioners as appropriate and necessary for project approval and implementation
  • Participates in rotating after hours spill call out duty and during response promotes PCCA interests ensuring spills on PCCA property are adequately cleaned, obtaining appropriate documentation of such efforts
  • Attends and participates, as a representative of the PCCA, in various meetings whether local, state, federal, or non-governmental organizations
  • Follows PCCA security, environmental, and safety requirements and procedures
  • Drives PCCA vehicles to complete assigned tasks courteously and safely; follows applicable procedures for vehicle use; works required hours to fulfill position objectives
  • Adheres to all PCCA policies; promotes and adheres to the SEAPORT values; maintains good employee relations and encourages and fosters a helpful environment where teamwork prevails
  • Assists senior management and office staff where appropriate
  • CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
  • Tier 2 status designation

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should be an organized, results-oriented professional, and a thorough and disciplined individual, with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA. They must possess the following:

EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Petroleum, Chemical Engineering, Biological Science or related field with emphasis on environmental and sustainability studies, or related field or training and experience equivalent
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
  • Valid driver's license

EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE
  • Sustainability experience related to environmental footprint, lifecycle analysis, sustainable supply chain planning and/or carbon market; or acceptable experience
  • Experience collaborating with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Experience exercising good judgement, diplomacy, and tact when completing assignments and dealing with people
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations
  • Experience in writing and preparing reports; proficiency in word processing, data research, spreadsheets, and database programs
  • Minimum 1-3 years progressively responsible experience in duties outlined above or education equivalent

  • Skilled in the application of environmental, sustainability, and technical concepts

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
