Job Description:

The Training & Development Manager on the Commercial Learning and Performance Operations and Technology Team (GCO LP) is responsible for managing and supporting training events (e.g., New Hire Training, Semester Meetings, Global Training). In addition, this role is responsible for overseeing a team that supports each training event, including logistics, specific learning technologies, communications and documentation.

This role is expected to collaborate with GCO LP leadership (including members of the Operations and Technology Team), trainers and others on the global commercial team.

Additionally, you will maximize efficiencies within GCO LP and help management implement standards and best practices. This position is based at Amgen Headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA, but remote location may be considered.

Specific duties include:
  • Oversee specific training communications (e.g., letters to attendees), including quality control with staff
  • Provide operational support of company systems and learning platforms (e.g., Degreed customer support email inbox)
  • Oversee and adequately support training events (including pre, during and post) for Phase 1 and 2 training and semester meetings
  • Ensure appropriate archiving of training records and material
  • Management of training equipment (e.g., AV, iPad, Laptops)
  • Provide logistical support for participants as needed (e.g., rental cars, hotel accommodations)
  • Establish quality standards for training events (virtual and in person) including training of staff
  • Provide customer support for trainers and event participants, including system related support (e.g., Degreed)
  • Collaborate on the training calendar for all training events (including outside GCO requests, the Simulation Center, and B27 Leadership Forum)
  • Vendor management (e.g., catering)
  • Initiate and track the completion of facilities requests
  • Manage team of associates who support GCO LP, including adequate training on relevant technologies, processes and systems
  • Oversee assigned projects specific to GCO LP

Basic Qualifications:
  • Master's degree and 4 years of sales and/or training & development experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of sales and/or training & development experience OR
  • Associate's degree and 10 years sales and/or training & development experience OR
  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of sales and/or training & development experience
  • 6+ years demonstrated experience in managing teams and coaching staff
  • Strong analytical, technical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Must be an exemplary team player that can work effectively with colleagues at all levels within the organization.
  • Must be able to work independently and with a sense of urgency to meet timelines

Preferred Qualifications (in addition to the previous basic qualifications):
  • 10+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas related to pharma/biotech: Sales, Hospital Systems Account Management, Training and Development
  • Experience in document management and process development
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage complex projects with resources across functional teams
