JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for supporting all Web properties and coordinating upgrades and enhancements to web and mobile platforms across the organization. This person ensures the underlying web infrastructure and front end interfaces are reliable and meet the requirements of the organization. This position is responsible for multiple aspects of Web site administration and support including system administration, operations, backups, prototyping, testing, monitoring, and management of the underlying hosting infrastructure. This position requires 24-hour on-call support based on a rotating schedule.


  1. Provide support, administration, and coordinate enhancements to critical Web platforms across the organization (70-75%)
    1. Manage the hosting and system administration for the organizations primary web presence and content management system. (Ektron, EpiServer)
    2. Manage the hosting and system administration for the organizations e-learning and assessment platform (Cold Fusion and Microsoft SQL)
    3. Manage the hosting and system administration for the organizations primary collaborative platform (Higher Logic, Sharepoint).
    4. Manage and support the organizations online search function (SOLR).
    5. Manage and support the organizations web application infrastructure including but not limited to Virtual Machines, Hypervisors, SANs, load balancers and firewalls. (Rackspace, AWS)
    6. Manage the organizations Domain Name Services (DNS).
    7. Manage the organizations Web Application Firewall (WAF).
    8. Manage the organizations domain name registrations
    9. Monitor software releases and patches from vendors and perform proactive maintenance on platforms.
    10. Monitor all Web sites for performance or service issues to ensure maximum uptime.
    11. Monitor all scheduled website and database backups to ensure timely restoration in the event of data or hardware loss.
    12. Monitor industry developments in security and take proactive action to ensure the organizations web platforms are sufficiently protected against malicious attacks
    13. Perform project-related planning and administrative tasks. (15-20%)
    14. Guide development of enhancements to existing applications as required.
    15. Work with third-party vendors to establish project timelines and effectively prioritize tasks.
    16. Manage web-based projects to ensure timelines and project requirements are met.
    17. Provide web application development support for internal and external projects.
    18. Provide input, guidance, and testing for the organizations mobile applications and initiatives. (iOS, Android)
    19. Monitor trends in the industry and adapt the web and applications strategy accordingly.
  2. Performs general planning and administrative tasks including but not limited to:(10-15%)
    1. Work with third-party vendors to obtain quotes for platforms and services
    2. Provide management with regular updates on projects and duties
  3. This position requires 24-hour on-call support based on a rotating schedule

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (an equivalent amount of training, education and experience will considered)

A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or Computer Science is desired (or equivalent work experience in the Information Technology industry)

Requires at least four (4) years of hands-on system administration experience with the Microsoft Server platform (Microsoft IIS, Active Directory, SQL Server)

  • Extensive knowledge in web application support and administration.
  • Knowledge in the design, development and deployment process of mobile applications and responsive interfaces
  • Knowledge of web systems architecture, including user experience, design, development and deployment.
  • Knowledge of business and project management principles in regards to project planning, requirement definition, leadership and prioritization.
  • Strong knowledge of principles in providing excellent customer service, including oral/written communication and assessment of customer needs.
  • Development and coding of programs automating administrative tasks.
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, design, and most critically, attention to performance, scalability, reliability.
  • Communicate effectively and persuasively at all levels of the organization both orally and in writing.
  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Multi-task, adhere to firm deadlines, and develop complete project schedules.

  • Working knowledge of web browsers and behaviors on multiple devices and multiple platforms.
